Electrotechnical sheet textolite is a layered material obtained by hot pressing of cotton fabrics impregnated with a thermosetting binder based on phenol-formaldehyde resin.
Due to the use of cotton fabrics, textolite has high compressive strength and increased impact strength, is perfectly machined by drilling, cutting, stamping, therefore it is widely used in the manufacture of parts loaded with alternating electrical and mechanical loads or operating under friction (bushings, cams, etc.).
As an electrical insulating material, textolite is used for works in transformer oil and in the air under conditions of normal relative humidity of the environment at a current frequency of 50 Hz.
The long-term permissible operating temperature is from -65° C to +105 ° C.
Brand B textolite is the same as Brand A, but has increased mechanical properties and is more often used as a structural material.
Dimensions: (1450x800) ±30 mm; (1000x800) ±30 mm.
Physical-mechanical and electrical parameters:
- density 1300-1450 kg /m3,
- breaking stress when bending perpendicular to the layers, not less than 100 MPa,
- breaking stress when stretching, not less than 45 MPa,
- Sharpie toughness parallel to the layers on the incised samples, not less than 7.8 kJ/m2,
- specific volumetric electrical resistance after conditioning under conditions of 24 h / 23 ° C /93% for sheets up to 8mm thick, not less than 1*106ohm* m,
- breakdown voltage parallel to the layers (one-minute verification test) under conditions of M/90 ° C / transformer oil, not less than:
- top grade – 15 kVeff;
- the first grade is 10 kVeff.
The parameters can be changed according to the requirements of the buyer in agreement with the manufacturer.
Electrical textolite grade B is a composite material used for the manufacture of parts that will be subjected to mechanical and electrical loads during operation. It is possible to operate them in open areas in the temperature range -65 ÷ +105⁰C.
Brand B textolite has increased mechanical characteristics, therefore it is often used as a structural material. In addition, it is worth buying for the following reasons:
- it is resistant to wear, has a sufficiently large margin of specific strength;
- it has a low thermal conductivity;
- explosion- and fire-safe;
- non-toxic;
- it can be operated in aggressive environments while maintaining its working properties;
- it is resistant to voltage surges up to 1 kV
Brand B textolite, in the presence of a protective bakelite lacquer coating, can be used in the chemical industry, provided that the parts from it will come into contact with medium or low concentration acid.
When using products made of B-brand textolite, it must be taken into account that it is a combustible material, during its mechanical processing, dust is formed, the air suspension of which is explosive.
